Goldwing navigation map updating

Thanks Based on your comment, I'm not sure you're willing to do this, but if you have (or are willing to purchase) a Garmin portable GPS with lifetime map updates, you can get the maps from that and create a data card to install into your Goldwing.I've written up some instructions that explain how to do this for 2012 and newer US Goldwings.Garmin Honda Goldwing drivers are tiny programs that enable your GPS hardware to communicate with your operating system software.Maintaining updated Garmin Honda Goldwing software prevents crashes and maximizes hardware and system performance. It took a while to get anyone to agree that there was a problem but after sending in a detailed fault report to Steve Martindale (Head of Honda UK Motorcycles) and making lots of calls and emails we finally got Honda UK to agree to do something about it.The old software (Version 2.6) could not handle Custom Routes properly, it recalculated, extended the routes, and then ‘crashed’ – it was useless!!If you would like a copy, just send me your e-mail address via PM and I'll e-mail them to you.In rare situations, some of your subscriptions might be kept as they are maintained by third parties.

Simply connect your new Garmin nüvi, dēzl or zūmo to your computer and visit within 90 days of first acquiring satellites while driving with your device and you'll be able to see if a free map update is available. The large screen is real easy to see and the instructions the unit gives are clear and precise, it was great. This new software is a MUST so if you have a 2012 or 2013 Goldwing you ought to call your local Honda dealer and ASK them to supply and install the software update – its free from Honda. After I asked about this last year, things got in the way of riding so my GPS concern went on the back burner.I do not want to go through a Honda Dealer as there are few if any tech experts on GL electronics that I have found. And, I'm not loading anything, non standard, that might get me lost in a drawn out process from which there's no support. The new SOFTWARE V2.8 is completely different and it works really well with Custom Routes.
